What are appraisals & the values they represent?

An insurance appraisal represents a high estimate of replacing the diamond at a retail jewelry store. It includes the cost of exactly reproducing your item as well as the jeweler's expenses & profit. An insurance appraisal value is not an actual cash value. Insurance appraisals ignore the condition, marketability and style of the item. Thus an insurance appraisal will always be much higher than the actual cash value.
